Visiting Holytown Primary School

Visiting Holytown Primary School

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Holytown Primary & Nursery and was very impressed by all of the pupils and staff within the school. They were clearly all very proud of their school – and rightly so. I was fortunate to visit during the infants’ Halloween party. As you will see from the photos, the kids’ costumes were amazing…and more than a little scary!

I also visited the P7 pupils, who told me all about their Roots of Empathy class. Earlier in the week they had been visited by a young mother along with her infant child. They told me how they observed how the baby reacted when it could and couldn’t see his mother. They explained to me how the purpose of the class was to understand how others felt and what it was like to walk in their shoes.

Primary 7 also told me about the fantastic trip they had to the Scottish Parliament, and how much they enjoyed the tour given to them by Siobhan McMahon MSP.  One young lady even told me she wants to be an MSP!

I would like to thank all of the staff and pupils for making me very welcome during my visit.
